A rheumatologist is a doctor who diagnoses and treats inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gouty arthritis, etc.), systemic diseases (lupus erythematosus, Sjögren's disease, systemic sclerosis, etc.).

A rheumatologist should be consulted if you experience complaints of joint pain accompanied by joint swelling, stiffness lasting more than 14 days, unexplained weight loss, prolonged fever, prolonged dryness of the eyes and mouth, skin rash, muscle weakness, pain. Unexplained skin rash, progressive shortness of breath.

Educated at the University of Latvia, works daily at the Department of Rheumatology and Endocrinology at the PSKUS.

Dr. Elīna Skaida is a member of the Latvian Association of Adult Rheumatologists. She regularly updates her knowledge at local and international seminars and conferences.
